NYE Glam Guide

Through a very chance meeting with an amazing stylist {Laura Saenz}, I got a chance to work with a great blog based in Austin called “Fab Is The New Black” and every month they do a Glamour guide featuring  a couple of snappy lil looks and usually a very she she boutique.  For the last three glamour guides, I’ve been asked to be a part of the glam squad and have been able to show  off some hair skillzzzz!  I love working with some amazing artists and this fierce honey bun  on model {Mariah} is sure to be a party favorite.  Ever wonder how to create a look like this…..scroll to the bottom to find out the secret……Image

Still curious on how to achieve this, but staring at it going…..”my hair could never do that” ???  Well, guess what…..neither can hers! Here’s the secret – it’s FAKE! Yup, I admitted it, no longer is it a secret, nor should it be.  One of my most favorite beauty purchases of all time…..is ma weeeeaaaave (ma is not a spelling error, btw, you can’t go around saying “my weave” – add some flavor, people!)

Here’s what I did to create this deliciously fierce honey bun:

**TIP: Think before you start….how do you want it to look in the end? Do you have bangs? Or do you want your hair to all be secured back, or just some?? Think about the front pieces before doing the bun and be sure to either leave them out and tuck them in when constructing.

1. Gather hair into a ponytail on top of head, you can go lower if you want it to be a little less dramatic.

2. Tease the hair that’s pulled through the pony tail holder, and then smooth out gently and pin into a bun-type shape.  This does not have to be perfect, in fact its mainly like a cushion, or the foundation for the fake hair that’s about to be added.  Secure the bun with bobby pins.

3. Clip in 2 tracks of hair at the back/bottom of the bun and try to tuck it up into the the bottom so that you can’t see the clips. (For those of you that are unfamiliar, I’m using human hair extensions purchased at Sally Beauty Supply, and they have clips that secure themselves to the hair).

4. Wrap around your cushion on natural hair and secure with pins and spray!!!

5. Practice makes perfect – if it doesn’t work the first time, that does NOT mean you can’t do it, you CAN, just keep working through it.  You might find that it falls into a style that you actually like more than what I created!

If you have any questions on this look, please feel free to post or email at glitterknockout@gmail.com.

I hope that you all have a HAPPY, glitzy, glammy New Year’s Eve sprinkled with lots and lots of glitter!
